I have been married for 6 years but have been in a long term relationship with my husband for almost 10 years. When we met he worked at a lab and made a little over 25k per year (I am guessing here). I had no job and moved to Kansas away from my family on a whim to be with him.
Fast forward 10 years and my husband is currently a manager for a company who does Utility inventory and he makes about 70k gross. I am lucky enough (or am I?) that I am able to stay at home with our soon to be 4 year old son G. Our normal monthly income ranges from $4600-5200 per month take home. We are extremely lucky that throughout all the ups and downs of this economy we have not had to worry about job layoff and where our next meal was going to come from. But we (mostly I) have been stupid and irresponsible with the money coming into our household like so many of you out there and we have racked up over $40k in debt not including my student loans. The reason I am not including my student loans in our quest to get rid of debt is because I am a soon to be graduate student and we will not have to start repaying the loans for at least another 2 years. Before that time I do hope we have our current debt paid in full and can begin to attack the student loans.
So for the time being I am going to list all our debts with their respective amounts below.
ON- $167.88
CO- $157.00
K- $283.92
OB- $250.00
SS- $215.00
WT- $693.46
Credit Union- $690.00
Dm- $1354.00
HD- $2703.00
S.WM- $5479.00
A.WM- $3105.00
Auto 1- $12, 824.00
Auto 2- $13,500.00
And there you have it folks.......a grand total of $40.932.16 worth of debt.
